Healthy Living Centre Dartford

Partnership is at the heart of the Healthy Living Centre (HLC) working with a number of partners, each delivering programmes tackling issues related to health and well being in the widest sense.
In February 2007 the Living Well marked its transition into a Healthy Living Centre, with an aim to enable the community and local service providers to work together to tackle broad health issues within the borough of Dartford. In June 2011 Healthy Living Centre Dartford registered as a charity.

The HLC recognises that good health and wellbeing are not delivered solely by an ill person seeing a doctor or a nurse, so aims to promote good health and well being by encouraging healthy lifestyle choices enabling people to tackle issues such as debt and deal with everyday life events such as relationships, family, bereavement, gaining confidence, joining an exercise class or volunteering their time.
The key health priorities that the HLC offer are to contribute towards reducing health inequalities and improving life expectancy, reducing teenage pregnancy and improving sexual health, reducing obesity, reducing harm from misuse of drugs and alcohol, supporting smokers to give up, promoting good mental health and improving access to weight management and physical activity initiatives across Dartford.

The HLC is always looking for help to enable it to sustain its work. We are happy to hear from organisations or individuals who may want to extend their services to the Healthy Living Centre.

Codes of practice and conduct
The HLC provides a service consistently monitored and checked to maintain a professional Service code of conduct. The aim being to maintain high standards, excellent quality and hopefully a platform that can be replicated elsewhere. The core outline delivers a strict code which applies to all.

Equality and Diversity
The HLC is committed to being an Equal Opportunities Organisation and is opposed to any form of discrimination including those of race, ethnicity, gender reassignment, sexual orientation, marital and civil partnership, religion and beliefs, disability or any other ground or status.

Community Safety

Feeling safe is vital for people’s well being and community cohesion. The Living Well offers a base for Kent County Council’s Community Warden for Temple Hill. The Police Community Support Officers also regularly visit the Living Well. People from the community know that the Living Well is somewhere to go to talk in confidence about issues that concern them.

St Edmund’s Church

The Living Well is the Anglican Parish Church for Temple Hill and the Bridge. St Edmund’s Church has always had a community focus with an emphasis on being welcoming and accepting. It functions as a 7 day a week church offering a range of activities and opportunities to explore spirituality and life issues.
