People often think of domestic violence as physical abuse but it can also apply to verbal, sexual or emotional harassment. It usually takes place in the home and anyone can be a victim - men, women, children and elderly people.
One in five women and one in ten men have suffered the use of physical force by a partner or former partner at some time since the age of 16.
Think about your phone, if you call someone from your phone about domestic abuse, this telephone number will show up on any itemised phone bill. If someone else also has access to your phone or your bill or is likely to ring that number to see who the telephone number connects too it may be worth considering using a public telephone instead. This is for your own protection and also confidentiality.

The perpetrator doesn’t live at the address needing additional security
It‘s safe for the victim to remain living there
It’s the victim’s choice to stay
